Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament – OPLL
The ligament between the vertebrae and the spinal dura is called the posterior longitudinal ligament. Ossification – or bone formation - in the ligament can compress the spinal cord. The existence of OPLL requires special planning for surgeries done from the front of the cervical spine.
